Teacher Emilee

I am passionate educator with 20 years experience working with young people. I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Pacific University. I hold a current Oregon teaching license for K-12. I taught 1st and 2nd grade at an IB World School. I worked as a substitute for Beaverton School District for the past 5 years. In 2019, I started a private tutoring practice. I served multiple families teaching ELL and foundational reading. During the 2020/2021 school year I opened our home to k-2nd grade distance learners. As my older students return to the classroom I am excited to open a child-centric, nature-based preschool and kindergarten.

My philosophy of teaching is: an education should serve the student as an individual, by playing off a student’s strengths, interests and passions while challenging them building up skills so that they may contribute their unique gifts to the world. I believe that this is done through meaningful and authentic tasks and play that engages and inspires the student to become a life-long and self-directed learner.
